Chronic Fatigue Symdrome Treatment

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a condition which affects the recovery of person after a physical or mental activity. Usually after exerting ones self, a person need a few hours or a day of rest to get back to normal. However if a person has chronic fatigue syndrome causes severe fatigue in a person which lasts for hours or even days. In addition to sever fatigue the person may also have symptoms such as an impaired memory or reduced concentration, a sore throat, feel muscle pain, get new headaches, not be able to have a refreshing sleep or have post-extertional malaise which would last more than a day.

There has been much research carried out in the way of chronic fatigue syndrome treatment. In the past, it was firmly believed that chronic fatigue syndrome was a psychologically based illness but experts today believe that it is a physical illness. As there is no concrete evidence as to what causes chronic fatigue syndrome, the treatment for it is varied and depends on the symptoms that are present. The most common methods used are to treat patients with trycilic antidepressants or selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

Exercise is also one of the methods that are used today as treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome treatment. It is believed that when a person is physically inactive for a long period of time, it can lead to chronic fatigue syndrome becoming worse as it weakens the immune system, had an adverse effect on a person’s mood and also energy level. Even though exercise has not produced any conclusive results in the treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome, it is still recommended by doctors as a method of treatment.

The type of treatment used for patients with chronic fatigue syndrome varies from case to case, depending on the patient’s symptoms as well as their genetic disposition. Also, treating the patients symptoms individually can improve his/her quality of life and enable the person to live a relatively normal life, managing to cope with chronic fatigue syndrome.

Chronic fatigue syndrome treatment is one that is being highly researched and investigated today. As there is no certain cure for this syndrome, it is a subject of much debate and interest. At present the best that can be done is to manage the syndrome, so hopefully the future will lead to a discovery in which a treatment that can eradicate it can be found.
